Have been using the free version of Comodo Internet Security for a couple of years now, and have never had a problem it couldn't handle - brilliant piece of kit for a freebie program.

Hi Brian I downloaded comodo a installed It. Then downloaded the leak test and ran it with the results being identical to yours.
I learn a lot from your videos thank you very much.

Brian, I appreciate the work you do on these videos. It is so helpful in making security decisions when I have at least seen the topic covered. Thanks again.

THANKS BRIAN!! WELL DONE...
I have Private Firewall & M'lady has Zone Alarm, as we get McAfee AV for free with Roadrunner...
If you don't install a 3rd party firewall, then Mcafee defaults to Z-A, which in these tests did rather poorly...
So I'll probably switch us both to Online Armor or Comodo.
A very valuable test & report, Thanks Again!

Actually Comodo FW was scored 340 but for some reason it showed 330. At 8:10 at runner it showed Error and not Vulnerable also later is showed Protected which means that Comodo FW block it. I runned Comodo leak test on my PC with Comodo FW and it scored 340 without that Error.

Hello Britec. I am not trying to be critical of your review but I am curious why you choose Comodo Leaktest as the control for this test. It appears the leak-test has not received updates in quite a while, (Comodo's official page for the leak-test has an advertisement for people to become distributors of version 3 of their Firewall Pro software). Being that is one of the most comprehensive firewall leak-test available online, who is to say that companies (such as Outpost) have not patched all the vulnerabilities detected by this outdated software? This is the #1 reason why I do not publish firewall test to my channel. It is not my intent to sound like "that guy" even though I am coming across that way but I would genuinely like to know the rationale behind this test.

Mr. Brian, sir: Another excellent video!!  Seems like Comodo probably didn't test their firewall against their own leak test....LOL

Posting from a forum re: this video

"This is NOT a firewall test, it is a full HIPS test. There is a big difference.

Comodo Leak test don't even test many firewall network protocols it test mostly HIPS protection.

Privatefirewall and Outpost on default settings has advanced HIPS components disabled, so the reviewer should have enabled them.
They will get 340 on Comodo leak test if the HIPS components are enabled. I have tested it before.

TinyWall and ZoneAlarm doesn't have HIPS features therefore they shouldn't be expected to do well on a full HIPS test.

I found it kind of strange that UAC blocks Comodo leak tester which proves UAC would protect your system from leaks anyway."

Hey Brian

One system you should also test is the hardware based router/firewall pfSense.  All you need is a dedicated machine (I have it running on an old Dell Dimension 2400 with 2GB of RAM and a Celeron processor on my network).  Load the ISO on the  hard drive, and point your browser to the computers IP address.  You can add multiple NICs, and Wireless cards, and the really cool thing is that you can run anti virus right at the firewall level (using CLAM AV).  It's got all the features that you'd find in those overpriced Cisco routers that cost thousands).  It's also leaps and bounds faster than any off the shelf consumer grade router/firewall.

To be honest, I'm more of a fan of hardware based firewall/routers than software.  It's harder to find exploits in hardware based devices as opposed to software.  While nothing is ever 100% in the computer world, I do find that I trust hardware more than software.  Just my experiences :-)

Keep up the great work.  Your videos really are informative!  :-)

Just tried to install Online Armor, it doesn't support if you have a virtual box installed on your system and won't install until you uninstall your bridged networking support.

I am running AVG with it's firewall, and it seems I can't leak test it.
Do you think I should just uninstall the firewall module and install Online Armor instead?
