The Church's privacy concerns aside, it's possible that no filming is allowed is to prevent the fulfilment of a "curiosity" seeking of such things. If your faith requires seeing evil in action to be affirmed, just take a walk outside and see how people interact or watch the news.

I grew up pentecostal. I remember them praying over a woman, and a demonic voice came out of her she said "If I'm going to hell I'm taking you all with me!" It was gut wrenching. My mom said start paying to God think of Jesus only, or it will attach its self to you. That scared me so much

It’s because they don’t want to give evil a platform. Very smart. Evil is very cunning, trust me I know.

I think it wouldn’t make a difference, maybe in the past it might have convinced some people but now people would dismiss it as CGI or something

I really wish someone would push harder about this topic. I agree with the questioner. You could also blur the persons face. It just is one of those things that seems coincidentally convenient. Especially since the person could give permission, and the face can be blurred, and basically a million other methods could be used to avoid the reasoning the church gives for forbidding it. Whenever the topic is brought up in interviews with exorcists, when they say it’s to protect the identity of the possessed, the interviewer will always just be like “oh okay” and move on. All I’m saying is I wish someone would continue for a little while with followup questions! I’m sure the church is justified in her decision but I wish the objections would be explored and answered so I could better understand the justification!

It seems to me that the bigger concern would not be privacy, but rather the influence through that video. We like to think that it's just a video, we're removed from thing, no harm can come, but this is a rather materialistic perspective. We're dealing with spiritual entities. I'm much more concerned about the harm they could do even through a video than some people believing, because quite frankly very few people will be convinced by any footage of an exorcism.

I tried to record my sister when she was possessed and undergoing a exorcism. This was like 20yrs ago. I had a camcorder and it completely went dead through some kind of interference.

Any chance you could change that thumbnail? Seeing as YouTube is a 13+ app. I know there’s horrific visual stuff on here but we don’t need to add to it.

A sad situation, for a demon victim deserves all their privacy, but it would seem irrefutable to athiests.

But they would claim it's CGI and fake and staged anyway...

Abraham said, 'If they don't listen to Moses and the Prophets, then neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.' "

The Catholic Church is 2000 years old with NUMEROUS miracles to look for. My favorite is the Miracle of Laciano--communion bread turning into literal bloody heart tissue with an AB blood type. It has happened multiple times throughout history, TO THIS DAY; our current Pope Francis helped collect one sample while he was still a bishop!!!

Is privacy of 1, 10, 100 people worth more than a definitive proof that God exists? How many souls could be saved with a proof to the naysayers?

All the fake ones are freely available to see on YouTube unfortunately

Isn’t there a movie called Father Amourth where they film an exorcism

Except when Jesus exorcised demons it was in public and when people saw it they were amazed and many put their faith in him. If the church is supposed to be the continued embodiment of Christ in this world they should follow His example. Light of the world remember? Don't hide under a lampshade.

If I really didn't want frogs to exist I could hold one in my hand and find any reason that it isn't real.

I don't think anyone would want to be filmed, I know I wouldn't. No one has to prove anything to anyone.

They should be documented even if not released. I recorded audio of a ghost just to prove I was hearing what I thought I was hearing because there was absolutely no one there. The audio captured them. There is no point in releasing it because anyone would just say it's someone making the sounds, and of course you would. I didn't need to hear the audio to convince me because I already knew, but it was to confirm it without doubt I wasn't losing it.

I have an unrelated question, in the incarnation God became human from the hypostatic union. I was debating with a Muslim and he gave me hypotheticals, we say God became a human but hypocritically could the Son have become an animal and be fully cat for example and fully God. I would say no but what exactly is the distinction?

"Protect their identity." Fair enough but you can do this and still film them with their consent; it's relatively easy to alter someone's appearance.

I’m just gonna let you know, I knowwww you’re going for click bait. But! I often scroll through your podcasts to listen to at 3 am while I’m nursing my 6 mo old baby. I’m not down to see this thumbnail at 3 am in the dark 😂

Wait a minute...the real-life footage of Exorcism of Maurice Theriault (not movie) displays on YouTube videos. 🤔
