I ask the prominent exorcist-priest Fr. Dan Reehil whether horror films can attract demons. Are they spiritually unsafe? #Frdanreehil #exorcist #horrorfilms #conjuring #FatherReehil

Nefarious was the movie that brought me back to God.

Unfortunately, I saw the Exorcist when I was 4years old. My mother and another person was watching it and glued to the T.V. and I was behind them watching the movie. By the time they realized I was there, I had seen all of the major parts of it. I couldn't sleep that night scared to death. People were talking about it the bext day at school. It became a nightmare for me for many years into my adult life. It wasn't until my conversion to the Catholic faith that God graced me release from fear. Now if the image comes up in my mind I reject, rebuke and renounce it in Jesus's name and pretend to punch it in the face and it goes away. The movi3 was beyond its time and caused much fear in many people at that time. Evil supernatural events occurred during its making as well. Jesus is King and Lord, not the evil one. Praise be to God forever!

After I saw the Exorcism of Emily Rose, I started getting harrassed in the middle of the night. For quite a few nights, I would suddenly wake up at 3:00 AM to the smell of smoke in my house. On someone's advice, I started offering up a Chaplet of the Divine Mercy for troubled priests each time it happened. That put an end to it pretty quickly. I'm no prude, but I do think we need to be careful about being too curious about the demonic, specifically.

Someone should do a remake of that movie but telling the truth story. Saint Michel the Archangel stepping in is just great!

Absolutely!! I was obsessed with scary movies and the life of Ed and Loraine Warren. After I read their book and watched all the movies, I had weird things start happening. As a strong Christian I cleansed my house and prayed everyday for God to send his light and love to overcome my house! Really scary, haven’t touched anything like that since!!

The saddest thing in Nefarious was the cluelessness of the nonbelievers that condemned the possessed person without any hope of deliverance.

I’ve had many encounters with demons the past few years. I used to love watching horror movies, not anymore. It’s completely changed how I see the spiritual realm.

When I was a teenager me & my cousin loved the conjuring films & we would rewatch them over & over at my house. During that time I would always have nightmares, I would wake up crying or terrified. I had reoccurring dreams of loved ones passing in horrible ways & witnessing torture. Glad to say I don’t watch horror films anymore & I don’t have nightmares.

Have never watched horror films. It is evil in itself that producers can only think of producing more evil, more horror. There is enough evil in the world.

Oh yes, 100% it does. Watched the Grudge with a friend when I was in my 20’s during and after the movie all hell broke loose in his two bedroom house, from text messages being sent ahead of time to my mates phone that was turned off in his draw making exact comments of what we were talking about in private. Room got freezing cold, TV turning on by itself, something was scrolling through my friend’s camera by itself, when that was impossible to do hands free. Anytime a photo was taken in the house it was distorted, you would have three heads, stuff like that. Phone calls to my phone with gnawing and gnashing noises being made when I answered. This entity then followed my friend for many years to every house and apartment he moved to. I even saw it walk by a doorway in a different house he was staying at. Eventually my friend went a bit strange and cold towards me, and that was the end of the friendship. Point of the story, don’t watch these kinds of movies as you may be inviting demons not only into your home, but into your life, and they may hang around for a very long time.

MY MAJOR issue with the movie The Exorcist is the part where the priest comes to the church and sees the Blessed Virgin statue desecrated to this unholy extent. I still watched the film, but the movie really turned me off right there. Because even as a plot point in the movie, someone had to do that to the statue for it to be filmed. THAT to me is crossing a line which disgusts me. The more I think about it, the more I realize that the crucifix scene also crosses (no pun intended) a line for me which deems it unworthy for entertainment purposes. I never want to watch that film again just for those two scenes.

I am not a horror film fan. Now I do enjoy watching the 1930s and 40s 'horror movies' like Frankenstein, The Mummy, Dracula, etc. The serious horror movies in the last 40 or 50 years have become just gross. They are also not fun to watch.

'The Exorcist' was an interesting watch in its day. I think it educated lots of people on the existence of the devil. But yes, it was 'Hollywooded' up. 'Nefarious' was brilliant because it was low action but very thought provoking. If you were looking for somebody stabbing people, or the spitting of pea-soup it was not the film for you.

Thank you for this video.

In my opinion the true meaning of the Priest in Nefarious, although the writers haven't admitted it, was to show how the Church has become divided in so many different dogmas to the point that instead of being the shepherds, they have become the lost sheep themselves.
