I usually hold it by the chain with the break off of course swing it around a couple times above my head and then grab the cord. Works everytime 20% of the time

I'm a retired local 1249 tree chapter and this is how we started our smaller saws. I don't recommend it but that's how we done it.

good one!. but I prefer starting the saw from the ground, on my knees with the bar between my legs, ya know as like an extra chain break then start it with a little throttle action. works like a charm looks real pro too. 👍

I hold the top handle in my left hand and drop it to the left away from me pulling up with my right hand, this way the chain saw is away from my body and it doesn't whip around like it wants to do if you drop start it the way the guy in the video is doing. I believe this is the easiest and safest way to do it.

I mean yes with a longer bar and rest it on the log but this is not necessary when you can drop start

Forgot to mention that u need to compress the throttle to turn the switch onto choke

Drop starts are just another "american thing", nobody does that in Europe.

How to not start a saw and damage the clutch and not have control of your saw. that bar is flying all over the place what if that break popped off for any reason and you were stabbing the throttle wide open like that.. WAAAA Right into your leg.... This has NEVER happened. Just because your firearm is unloaded dont give you the right to aim it at things that you shouldn't... Same with a saw just becasue you can fling that thing around like a pool noodle shows the sign of an armature that shouldn't be doing how to videos... So people how to start a saw correctly...
