Here is a quick demonstration video on how to change out the dead / dying battery in your Audi key fob. This specific fob was found in the 1997 - 2006 A4 and S4 models. Use a flat blade screwdriver to split to two end as I've shown in the photo. The on the end without the key blade, use the screwdriver again to split those two halves. At that point, you now have access to your 1620 batteries that need replacement. MAKE SURE YOU GET 2 BATTERIES!

My 2004 Audi A4 Cabriolet has an identical looking key fob, but uses one CR2032 battery.

I have a 2006 a4 cabrio with the same type of key fob, however only one battery and takes a 2032. Of course, before finding your video on how to do it correctly, I fear I've damaged it. Is it easy to buy a new fob replacement?

well, I just don't get it, but in my there is just one, but it works on it's own old one still (but some time it's not, so I want to replace) but it just wont work on new one, after replacement. Same type, same polarity, but it just won't work at all. When I place back the original, it suddenly start working again. And yes, I've even test it by multimeter, I do have even one, half-used, what does have same voltage, but just +0, 1 V better and it's not working neither. Do someone hade same issue?
