Ogden family's dream rental situation turns out to be a nightmare

One family realized the housing deal was too good to be true.It started with a notice taped to their front door saying they were squatting and had to leave immediately. That notice was from the company renting the home.

The second they say to Venmo or Cashapp your rent and security deposit. Run for the hills.

Sound like he got scammed. Never ever send money through Venmo, Zelle or wire to someone you don't know. It's ONLY for friends and family. I hope the rental company and the family comes to a solution.

How did the family get the keys to the house?

Yes, and there are MANY scammers on Facebook who post pictures of houses (they get them from other websites on the internet) and these scammers tell someone on FB they'll pay $450 a week to post "their" ads. It turns out these scammers don't own the property, but the person posting it doesn't know.
The person answering the ad calls the number listed (the scammers), who says send them money for a deposit.
The person posting it never gets paid, gets blocked from Facebook marketplace, and whatever else website they post on.
Facebook allows this kind of crap.

Look up who the owner is with the county assessors office. Ask for id of landlord to confirm they are who they are.

Wow that’s crazy 😜 I pray 🙏they fine a good home and get their money back sad you have to fine the right person that owns that house never pay anything online there’s always a scammers out there trying to take your money and they don’t care where they get it from I don’t even like to shop online at all because you don’t know if that money is going to the right place deal things in person face to face take pictures ask for ID if you have to take pictures do what you have to do to know where that money is going always be alert
