3 Steps - How to check a motor only with a multimeter?

You should really use insulation resistance test between earth and phase at double the working voltage. That way you get an actual reading instead open loop. Same for phase to phase. I don't know what the range is on your meter but if it only goes to like 100k ohms then you might weak short and not detect it. A fail is less than 1M ohm. Also worth noting if you put a star bar in, you can phase to phase test while checking balance by going u1 to v1, v1 to w1, w1 to u1.

Sorry to break it to you but that's a big NO. You have to disconnect your coils and the power cable before proceeding with measurements.
