What is a DMZ? (Demilitarized Zone)

A DMZ, or demilitarized zone, is used to help improve the security of an organization’s network by segregating devices, such as computers and servers, on the opposite sides of a firewall. And setting up a DMZ in your home router designates a device as a DMZ host and will forward all the ports to that device.

I am now almost at the end of my Study as an it technician, I must honestly say that this guy is simply the best at explaining things to beginners, there is no one better. He explains everything as simply and clearly as possible so that even beginners are not confused. This video is amazing!! During my Network + studies, they talk a lot about NOT using Demilitary zones on corporate networks and i don't understand why?? This video explains it's uses and why it's beneficial. Also, NOBODY has every explained(except this video, smiles) how the DMZ is utilized in a home router setup. The XBOX example is very pertinant and is a great example of how to use that feature at home.
