Witchblood looks awesome! I hope more games like that end up coming. I am just desperate for anything that isn’t a FPS.

I’ve been playing Zenith every day for the last couple of years. It is everything I wanted from VRMMORPG. I after playing a flatscreen World of Warcraft for 17 years. I had so much fun in Zenith using my actual physical body to fight and do things in the game. I was used to the grind. I think that people in VR need new shiny and quick dopamine hits and that on a regular basis to entertain themselves. Ramen VR did a great job with the mechanics. The in world environment is absolutely amazing. I have seen this disconnect between people who have time to grind and people who have limited time to play and I think that where the issue is. It is still a good game and I am still having fun in it. I don’t have a solution, but I just wanted to say I love Zenith so much.

The problem with Zenith is simple: maps are not so good, skills are not so good, pvp mechanics are not so good. Bring the keyboard + mouse and joystick, good mmorpg graphics, good mechanics, and there we go. Actually, I would preffer a real mmorpg developing VR support, like BDO or ESO.

I got my Quest 3 just recently and it is awesome! I having a great time with Asgard's Wrath 2. I definitely need a new head strap though. Watching Gladiator in the Bigscreen app was a blast. My VR legs are still a bit wobbly, but getting better. It was after watching your vids is what made me decide to jump into it. Thanks!

As I have said on many other videos of the topic the only way a VR MMO is ever going to take off and this is the BARE MINIMUM basics 1: a proper player economy 2: a properly built up world no different in both scale and detail to regular MMOs and when it comes to VR it requires two things the combat and physics of blade and sorcery mixed with the social community building of VR chat that is yet again the bare minimum where I could see it actually working and if you think that's too high of a expectation take a look at any of the source material, the fictional VR MMOs that you see in stories especially the ones that Zenith are trying to replicate with its anime art style if you check the source material you'll very quickly realise that the VR tech in those stories far surpasses our own to the point where to be honest to call what we have virtual reality is kind of an insult to the original vision the VR MMOs in those stories are quite literally functionally no different to our real reality except for the occasional visual glitch and stat pop-up screen and that's just the VR tech you'll also see in those stories that all the NPCs are completely alive like running on Chat gbt 8 stuff, all the houses are openable all of the objects are interactable down to the smallest Blade of grass that you can pick up like I said no different than our reality except the occasional small thing that reminds you "oh this is digital" VR MMOs as they have been described in fiction are no different to simulating entire digital world's and that's not some marketing mumbo Jumbo to get you to buy the game that's exactly what it is we simply do not have the technology to create that dream into reality which then comes into the target audience the people that would to play a anime Style VRMMO like Zenith was trying to accomplish are either the occasional hardcore weeb or the core audience of that kind of game would be a specific type of gamer those who seek the ultimate escapism and immersion above all else which means yet again those world's would not only need to be fun to play in but also to *live* in the same way you would in something like d&d is that crazy yeah but that is the allure of the fictional vision that any up-and-coming vrmmo is trying to make reality

Iam a MMO gamer and theorist. I liked Zenith at first like many others, but this was because I liked what it demonstrated that VR Tech in its current form can handle. Now to the big issues. MMO genre as a whole has been hampered by the Grand Fathering effect. Many MMOs held on to old design concepts that people have moved on from. As Metteo311 pointed out about very few people completed the early achievement, we'll if you look at one of the most popular MMO across all systems (World of Warcraft), their developers said they had the same issue with people quiting before level 20. The issue is people DONT LIKE MMO GRIND in the West. In The Eastern MMO community this is the opposite. But here in the West, no. Modern MMO players especially casual MMO gamers don't like all that boring meaningless grind that gets outleveled and become useless once you reach the next level. I remember suggesting this to the developers on their forum board early on. Get rid of the meaningless Level Grind and make the whole world endgame that all players can roam around tackling events and objectives from day one. This creates connection to the game world and allow development resources to be spent on making content that will always be of value to players, not content that players will outlevel and not want to come back. They game should have also had more exciting and large-scale Dynamic Events. Don't get me wrong, they did have some decent public events, but perhaps this was a tech issue. But the game should have released with more classes ready day one and more crafting professions day one. The interactive crafting was a great idea, just limited. Always have the stuff ready day one. You rarely get second chance at a first impression in the MMO genre. Waiting around for new classes to release months later just isn't ideal.

Hey Matteo! Maybe you can make a list of best VR co-op games you can play with wife in the same room? (Quest 2-3 preferred)

IMO, an MMO in VR could work, it's just that Zenith made all the wrong choices. First off, stop comparing yourself to Sword Art Online, and dissuade people from making those comparisons. It's a lofty goal and not meeting it only leaves people feeling disappointed. Second, pick a damn art style/aesthetic. I got some PSO vibes at time, but everything was so generic that everytime I booted up the game, my first thought was "Asset flip"/"Half-assed".

I think best way to develop VR mmo or any kind of game is make it cross over with consoles with pc, there is many options how to do it its just need good idea how game mechanics will works i think MMO is good game category for multiplatform game but there is many MMO and for devs is hard to bring some fresh different MMO game with some not seen before game mechanics

Zenith never felt like it had any synergy between your abilities. Things didn’t chain together at all. It was just face roll and stuff died. Then the god awful dungeon system dropped and in a matter of 10 minutes people were just speed running to the end of the dungeons and farming the bosses. No reason not to since nobody really had crowd control or anything like that. I want to spend a good half hour pulling mobs and healing a tank and all this. Nope… They basically screwed up every MMO mechanic along the way.

I think Zenith's focus was just wrong. The number 1 thing that you need to focus on with an MMO is to create an enticing game world to suck players in, that makes players want to stay. Honestly it's a shame Square-Enix isn't making a proper VR version of FFXIV. Just rebalanced for VR with exclusive mechanics. No need to allow save data to be transfered or to have them mingle with the main game players either. The game's so big and expansive no one would mind starting all over in VR. Heck the Quest 3 is probably powerful enough to run it with proper optimization.

That metroidvania game looks interesting. Never heard of it, seems to be Oculus exclusive for the PC. And well, not gonna buy any Oculus games because it will probably shut down in a few years (the Oculus PCVR shop).

I do hope that showcase in August has some real nice games. I'm still waiting for the next Half-Life Alyx to be honest. As in, a truly mindblowing VR experience that feels good to play.

I am very glad Wanderer got delayed. The Original game was great when it first released. I think its a good sign that they have put so much work and new content into the game that it requires delays.
