Hi! I'm Chantel and I live with my family over on the Canadian prairies. We love to snuggle up with good books all winter long so you'll see lots of books here along with our homeschool stuff.

I would recommend the imagination station over magic tree House they are incredibly similar but the imagination station has more of a Christian spin on it and I think gives more historical facts I was extremely impressed with them!

So excited that he's doing Bear Grylls I can't wait to hear his review on those!

If you start the Hidden Scrolls now you might make it to the Christmas one in time 🎄 The Christmas one is one of my favorites!

We are doing a unit study on the bear gryills series. The unit study is from the Waldock way. She also has on the magic treehouse series we might do at some point

It is a bit old fashioned but we use the Mcguffey's Revised Readers for their "required" reading to mom practice. I like it because the lesson is usually fairly short, they learn great vocabulary words, good morals, and you can use either phonics or sight reading or both with the readers. After they read me a Mcguffey's lesson they are free to read on their own.

We're almost through the Hidden Scrolls series. I plan on starting the Imagination Station books next. We also discovered Didi Dodo recently. It's a delightfully silly series.

If he likes mysteries, you could look at the Great Mouse Detective series by Eve Titus. A take-off from Sherlock Holmes and quite funny.

At this grade level, is it expected that they can read it completely on their own without any trouble? I feel my son still needs to read with me. My older two daughters were definitely more ahead in grade 3. Perhaps I can start him on a grade 2 book list? Any recommendations?
