I'm binge watching Deep Space Nine and love Nog. The scene where he tells Captain Sisko that he wants to go to Starfleet Academy so he doesn't end up like his father makes me cry. His acting was heartfelt. ❤

The episodes about Nog losing his leg helped me immensely in dealing with the loss of my own right leg.

The most heart wrenching was Nog pleading to Vic Fontaine asking him if he could stay at his place in the Hologram .Nog at this point was going through a deep depression seeing war first hand and loosing his leg in the war against the Dominion . Vic was very reluctant at first, but decided that it was probably the best thing for Nog to help him get through the depression and start with the healing process . Aron Eisenburg was one great actor with a special gift . He will be remembered by all DS9 fans forever more .

Aaron Eisenberg's performance on the show as Nog cemented the character as a fan favorite. We still miss him.

I never got to meet Aron in person, but I communicated with him online now and then. He was always so intelligent and kind. Such a tragedy.

You mentioned Star Trek Online hosting a vigil for Aron Eisenberg, but neglected to say anything about him actually being in STO. Of all the Star Trek alumni that have reprised their roles for the game, few have had the impact on STO that Aron left while reprising Nog. In STO's timeline, Nog is captain of the USS Chimera (the first of its class) and played a significant part in Star Trek Online's Iconian War and Gamma Quadrant story arcs. He was also added to the game's tutorial for the Federation faction in one of its multiple revamps over the years. Nog is also one of the few characters you get to actually play as that isn't your own player character in STO, which you can do in the episode "Quark's Lucky Seven, " where Quark puts together a team to steal the Sword of Kahless back from the Iconians (an episode that is exactly as hilarious as it sounds).

Since Aron's passing, the Captain Nog NPC can be found in Quark's Bar on Deep Space Nine talking with the Odo NPC. During STO's Klingon Civil War arc in the episode "A Day Long Remembered, " there is dialog of Martok (voiced by JG Hertzler) fondly reminiscing about the time when Nog was a cadet and stood up to him and two other Klingons and telling them to move from his spot on the promenade.

I loved it when Rom had a cadet uniform made for Nog as a gift before he left. I always liked to think Nog wore it when he first arrived at the Academy. When any of the other cadets would ask him about it he would say, "It was a gift from my father to show how proud he was of me." And and after that I like to think the red head covering he wore was from his father's gift and not something issued by Starfleet. So he was always wearing one piece of his father's gift throughout the show.

There are a few reasons that I consider DS9 to be the best of Trek. One of those reasons is how well utilized the supporting and recurring cast were. Nog is a prime example of the respect the show had for its characters.

I could see Nog's crew having the best of everything. Real drinks, food, best holodecks, what ever he could.

Now I understand why in Star Trek Discovery there is an Eisenberg class called the USS nog. Honouring his real name and character name.

Everyone rightly comments on how epic his dramatic scenes were. Personally, I like the little character touches that showed how much of him was left after the Ferengi and Starfleet influences merge. "If I get lost I'll just follow the ship in front of us, " his reply to Sisko asking if he knew the way to Cardassia in the final episode, is quintessential Nog.

At the start of the series I never expected Nog to have the arc that he did. Having Jake teach him to read would make you think he was just going to be a criminal forever. I'm glad that the Producers/Writers gave Nog the arc and strong parts at the end of DS9. I'm also glad that Aron was able to make Nog such a good character. His acting in It's Only A Paper Moon is great. Nice to see that Aron was able to support the A Plot of the episode.

Eisenberg's performance of Nog's emotional struggle with the of his leg in "It's only Paper Moon" was his absolute bet performance through the whole series. Yes he had several but that was his best.

I interacted a few times with Aron on what was formerly known as Twitter, and he was always so kind and awesome. He is missed by all who have crossed his path.

I got to know Aron pretty well when he directed a show I was starring in. What always impressed me was how humble he was, and how he was always working to improve his acting. And still, the entire time we were in rehearsal all I could think of was: OMG Nog is talking to me! Rest in peace, Aron.
