Planting Red Onions from the Grocery Store!

These onions started sprouting on their own, so I couldn’t let them go to waste. I rooted them in some water for a few days to give them a jumpstart.

Watch me add them to my “Grocery Store Garden” #grocerystoregarden

I have been looking at the grocery store in a whole different way since realizing I can grow from my own food. We are so removed from where our food comes from most have no clue that we can do this. Thanks for sharing!

2 years ago I planted grocery store garlic. I haven't bought any since then. I think I'll probably need to buy some this year because the squirrels kept digging them up. However I still have about 25 healthy looking plants to harvest in June

Yes! I do this with green onions. When I cook I just cut the green tops and put the bottom in the garden and they grow. They create the prettiest blooms! I’m going to try this with red onions because they’re my favorite too!

Top onion tip is don't let the green leafs touch the soil bcuz it makes them think they finished growing.
Eat the greens, snip them for cooking Wen they bend.
Onion leafs touching the soil can make for small onions.
If u want to harvest a crop knock the leafs over so they touch the ground and leave a few weeks till leafs brown
Absolutely fantastic ma'am.
Old saying says " know Ur onions"
Mrs Lady Lead knows her onion's.

After finding a red onion sprouted in my pantry (oops!), I decided to keep it growing so placed it into a cup with water and now it's full of roots and top shoots! I needed to know the next step with transferring to soil, and your great, and inspiring video answered it all! Thank you Lady Lead!

Onions are a natural pesticide. Pest won't be anywhere near onions. Very good to grow around other plants because it's a natural deterrent to pests and onions can grow in between any vegetable or flower.💚✌️

My store bought mint are going wild! My green onions are gigantic... My Basil is a bush and I threw some grap tomatoes in the ground and I see a small bush. Store bought is the way to go if you want to get started.

Great info on the onions. Most people will just plant the entire thing together instead of separating the parts.

Recently I tried an experiment with some collard greens from the grocery store. After taking the leaves off and cleaning them I took the bottom part of what was left over and planted it. Now I have completely new plants that are going well.

Hi Lady Lead, it looks amazing. My grocery store onions are looking good also. With these prices we all need to do this recycling for real

Plenty of green onions. I got potatoes in buckets right now. Hopefully get a good harvest before summer heat.

That is awesome, Lady Lead! We definitely can't sleep on the grocery store leftovers. We've been growing garlic and turmeric from rhizomes we purchased in grocery store years ago.
