The doom metal its too wide to pick ten bands (traditional, Death-doom, Sludge, Stoner, Epic, Drone, Black-doom, Funeral), too many good bands, too many sub-genres.

Electric Wizard and Pentagram not on the list but My Dying Bride and Type O Negative is. Love those bands but come on it's a doom list.

Doom Metal, along with Melodic Death Metal and Neoclassical or Progressive Metal, is one of the very greatest metal subgenres for some reasons. A lot of Doom metal has the following:

1. Poetically emotive, honest, and mature lyrics.

2. The intense, raw, and heavy songs without the need for fast playing or a tough guy-ish style in order to sound heavy.

3. Expressive vocals.

4. Lyrical themes mainly about personal situations, emotions, or literature.

5. The combination of heavy metal, blues, and classical music.

6. The musical compositions full of melody and a story.

Doom metal is one of the subgenres that shall shut up the people who say "metal's just noise."
