Wouldn''t the Chloride Ion be - 1s^2 2s^2 2p^6 3s^2 3p^6 as it is gaining an extra electron? This is what my textbook shows.

Very clear description but a couple of errors - Shouldn't the second Argon example at 10.40 mins be calcium? also Chloride ion has 18 electrons, your example is with 17 electrons, so is a Chlorine atom.

hi there so im a bit confused about vanadium as freesciencelessons said its 1s2, 2s2, 2p6, 3s2, 3p6, 3d3, 4s2 but the order is always 1s, 2s, 2p, 3s, 3p, 4s and then 3d. Can u plz explain
