Honestly people who abandon older dogs to "Swap" for a younger one should automatically be banned from adopting. A pet is for life you don't just swap them when they get old.

Seniors for Senior Dogs!! I just submitted an application for one of the seniors in the Empty the Shelter Event a few hours ago. I'm retired so I can be with my pups all the time! We are going to hang out and enjoy LIFE! ❤❤❤🐕🐕🐕♥️♥️♥️

Someone who is home most of the time, please adopt her! Reminds me of our Dutchess, left behind when her owners moved to Texas because she was too old (12) and they were buying 2 puppies when they got there. Dutchess was put outside to be a "neighborhood dog" and watched them load the UHaul and leave. She had cancer and arthritis in her hips. We took her in immediately! She was my best cubby buddy(I worked from home) and although we lost her to her preexisting cancer only 1.5 years later, she was the most wonderful friend. We promised a soft bed, that she would never be hungry or thirsty again and she would get the best medical care to help her be pain free. When the pain was no longer manageable, we said goodbye. It's been almost 2 years, but one day we will adopt another senior. We were blessed that she was thrown away and that she chose to give us so much love. We miss you, our beautiful girl.

"She keeps getting out?" WTF? Maybe the lamest excuse I've ever heard for returning a dog after a DECADE. Next, it will be, "well, she chews with her mouth open, and we don't like all those sounds!" Some people just don't deserve to have dogs.

That just totally infuriates me. That is so cruel to just throw away someone who would have laid down her life for you. I have had two senior dogs I adopted and they were both absolutely love affairs for me. I miss my own old dogs, but after they had all passed, I was too old myself to start with a young one again and I found out how wonderful senior dogs are. Shame on them for giving up on her!

She’s a beauty. She just wants to be loved and to give love. She’ll be a great fur baby. 10 isn’t old, it a great age and I can’t imagine giving up my fur babies that are 13, 11 and 9. She’s so happy.😂

Our last few rescues we intentionally adopted older dogs aged 8 yrs or older. We have never regretted it. Older dogs are typically more settled, and they have so much love to give! They sit in shelters much longer than younger dogs and puppies. It's heartbreaking.

Oh this is the worst of the worst. There is nothing more unfair than a senior dog being dumped after spending her whole life in a home. Absolutely horrific. Poor angel.
