T-shirt screen printing record shattered by M&R Challenger III D J4 automatic screen printing press

Screen printer Omar Viera used M&R's new Challenger III D J4 Automatic Screen Printing Press to set a new world record of 2139 T-shirts printed in one hour by a single operator. The event took place on June 28 at FESPA 2013 in London. The result eclipsed the previous record (also held by Mr. Viera) by 230 T-shirts. Other M&R screen printing equipment contributing to the record attempt were the Passport Automatic T-shirt Unloader and Fusion electric conveyor dryer.

Rich Hoffman, M&R's CEO, said, "In 2010, Omar proved he was an elite screen printer. And we knew we had a phenomenal automatic screen printing press in the concept Challenger III D J4. But we also knew everything would have to go perfectly for Omar to set a new world record in London—much less to shatter the old record the way he did today. However, even if you have all the elements necessary for success, an otherwise minor glitch can leave you short of your goal. To borrow a phrase from the sports world, 'It's why they play the game.' Fortunately, it all fell into place."

Hoffman went on to thank Jon Weiss, founder and CEO of the New Buffalo Shirt Factory, for making it possible for Omar to compete; Gildan for providing high-quality T-shirts; Wilflex for providing exceptional screen printing ink; Mitsubishi for their superior servo drives and exceptional support; the people at M&R behind the design and manufacture of the new Challenger III D J4 automatic textile press; the outstanding M&R support staff at FESPA 2013; and especially Omar for another amazing performance.

Just had a M&R tech out to my shop last night to do some fine tune adjustments on my Diamondback after six months. This company really stands above everyone else for service. Their techs know what they are doing and will do whatever it takes to make sure you are happy with your investment. Great company Rich - I'll only spend my money with you guys.

VERY impressive.. but this is not ONE operator. someone is opening the shirts for him. someone is feeding shirts to that person. and someone else was spraying adhesive.

very impressive regardless !

Impressive. But how long can ya keep that pace? I've done this job for 20 years and never seen anything like that.

Great video. Did anyone notice the Gildan sticker / print on the inside of the t-shirt? That must be a guide so he knows where the center of the t-shirt are? I know it would help me if it was centered. Nice work.

Some bosses will be happy with that speed but no one checkin quality on the t shirt, measure, ink, details, etc. Good Job for Omar, that was great!

If I had a machine that was as quick as this, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind I could come pretty close to this record. No, I'm not tooting my own horn. I just know how fast I can load shirts. There's some things going for Omar with this particular record. 1; from what the video show, it looks like every shirt is the same size which makes loading them the same way every time very easy after the second shirt. 2; he's loading the back of the shirt (which if you're a screen printer, you know loading the back of a shirt, especially one that 'fits' the platen/pallet the way a medium or large does, it basically loads itself. 3; there looks to be some sort of tag on the shirt so he knows it's loaded straight. and lastly, 4; he has someone opening the shirt for him so when he turns, the shirt is ready for him in the same spot every single time. I'd love to try this and see where I'd be.

Haha, a lot of big talkers on here talking about how they can smoke Omar's record. Step up and be recognized then. Of course it's easy to beat Omar from behind your laptop, screenprintinting tough guys, lol.
