I have a headcanon about Peter Punch in SPO, and it is that he is a stand-in for Little Mac in the game of Super Punch Out. What do I mean? Whang made a good point in his video about Glass Joe, where "Super Punch Out" is a video game in the Punch Out universe. It's likely that the "Super Punch Out" game is based off of the story of Little Mac, but the developers couldn't get the rights to use Little Mac's likeness so they made an original fighter to take his place. It explains the discrepancies in W/L records and the reason why we see a new character fighting characters we've already seen. Plus, some games have done this before, a good example is WWE 2K16 when the developers replaced Mike Tyson with a random Asian guy in his appearance at Wrestlemania 14 because they couldn't get his likeness.

The model for Birdie lookes a little wonky, but it still looks better than whatever the hell EA was trying to do with him in the GameCube version of Fight Night Round 2.
