The point of spending 100s of millions on homelessness isnt to end homelessness, its to guarentee your friend or family member a high salary job, embezzle money, and create jobs for people. No government department would ever solve the problem of their mandate because then they wouldn't be needed and their budget would be slashed. The trick is to do just enough to appear as if you are making progress but also show that you need more money to accomplish your goals.

My buddy worked on a brand new building built exclusively to house homeless people in LA. Not only are they housing them they’re also paying them while they live there. If we’re gonna build anything to house the homeless it should be mental asylums.

I think the most American thing to do would be self allocated taxes. Tell me how much I gotta spend and I’ll let you know where the money is going. Then have the representatives manage the funds. I think we’d be a lot more involved as a population if we got to line item our own taxes.

Im South Africa, I fully agree. We pay high taxes and get next to nothing for it. What's the point of taxes if it doesn't benefit the people?

Regardless of whether I am okay with paying taxes, I cannot be okay with forcing another person to pay taxes. That's what selflessness is. Saying "I don't mind paying taxes if it means helping people, " when you wouldn't give that same money to help people if everyone else wasn't forced to is selfishness and virtue-signalling disguised as compassion.

I hate that 20% of my fed taxes go into military. And how money moves there between foreign govenrment, companies, and politicians (on both sides) is WAY too shady
