So today I want to look at the celebration of Imbolc, a festival steeped in ancient traditions and meaningful rituals. 🌿✨

🕯️What is Imbolc?
Imbolc, also known as Candlemas or Brigid's Day, marks the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. It's a time when the Earth begins to awaken, and the promise of spring is felt in the air. It is a day of purification and a cross quarter sabbat meaning we are passing from winter into spring and everyone should light a sacred fire to celebrate this day.

Spring is coming and the joy that I can see -even as the weather cools brings warmth to me. There are so many rites, and rituals for this festival, so I have given a few of my favourite here, and a little background so that you can create your own.

Brigid was the deity that was prayed to when I wanted to have a baby. My daughter who is now 8 years old. I give thanks to her.

Hello Ginny I am a 5th generation solitary witch I'm so glad I found you. Here in Ireland they celebrate ST Brid or Breege the Irish for Bridget, People place a red cloth outside at night on the windowsill and a saucer of milk. It is said she will come and bless the cloth during the night and it is kept for the year to wrap any aches and pains. Young children make the cross at school. I moved over to Ireland from England 26 years ago my 2 Adult children I of which has chosen to be a catholic and the other a witch.

I like doing the tradition where you leave a ribbon out overnight for Brigid to bless. I prefer to use a red ribbon then I tie it around my doorknob with bells for protection

So glad I came across this channel. This is my first year I am making the conscious commitment to celebrate all the sabbats. And I'm so excited to be celebrating imbolc. I don't necessarily celebrate the God's or Godesses, but invoke the spirit of each sabbat in relation to its connect with the planet, and what it means for the earth and universe. First generation witch in this lifetime and new subscriber.

Am a Brigid born on the 19th of January, and was named after this goddess.

Hello! I’m from Italy and here we have a festivity named Candelora (a name that has something to do with candles) and it’s the traditional day in wich candles are blessed with holy water and sacred ointments. It’s obviously an ancient pagan tradition that Christians just took over and called their own… but I love how linked it is to festivals all over Europe!❤

I wanted to reach out to Brigid when I was about 16, but it didn't feel right, as a long time Atheist and former Christian I felt like I was performing a religion that wasn't my own. But recently I wanted to look back into it coincidentally right around the time of Imbolc.
When you mentioned Brigid's connection to the number 19 I nearly teared up as I turn 19 in about a month and felt this timing had to mean something.
I have no doubt I'm pledging myself to the right goddess and welcome this new chapter of my life, thank you!

I dedicate a tapered candle to her, and put her symbols on there, then I will ask her to bless my home, I also take a fire torch around my land and ask for her blessing as well, and create a place for her on my altar, Blessed Be, ty for sharing
