Derek good morning, if you pause the video at 3:45, the beam is all on that one header. Doesn’t look like its enough support. I don’t know if the beam is supported else where? What do you think? I’m sure it was engineered, just curious. Not a critique and not a builder. Just an observation. As always great work.

Do you need to demo the old garage and start from ground up? Is building on top of an existing garage an option?

Over here in California, cities can’t restrict ADUs up to 16ft in height. That being said, an ADU above a garage is obviously taller than 16ft. Are most cities generally approving ADUs above garages or are you seeing some issues with this? I’m looking to build above my own garage which is why I’m curious. Thanks.
