I know an 18 yr old, he told me that vaping gave him bacterial pneumonia since the gas was more humid within the lungs, since then he switched to cigarette smoking and he says it’s better since it’s drier for the lungs. To him smoking helps him think better, which is an excuse to smoke. These cigarette companies have won to officially create a new generation of smokers! 😭

Rule of thumb should always be that inhaling something other than air is risky, particularly if it’s a daily, multiple-times-per-day inhalation. Next rule of thumb should be that the compounds inside vapes are not regulated, there is no guarantee of the safety or quality of ingredients inside, and that’s not something you should be willingly introducing to your lung tissues and bloodstream.

As a vaper I 100% agree. It has helped me get off cigarettes. But I always tell anyone who wants to trying vaping, quit while you’re ahead. I don’t wish addiction on anyone.

I watched my grandfather drown to death, a dry drowning. His lungs slowly hardened over 10 years. The gurgling towards the end, the gaping gasping mouth, the desperation to take in the oxygen but the lungs couldn’t. His last three years he couldn’t move from his computer chair without aid. Smoking takes away peace from your death. It adds unnecessary pain.

Vaping helped me kick a 15+ year smoking habit. For me, it has truly been the lesser of two evils. I've been able to slowly titrate down my nicotine levels and only have a little way to go. All that said, it drives me nuts that kids can get ahold of vapes so easily and I would never recommend it to anyone who doesn't already smoke.

I see 10 year olds regularly vaping on the bus... It's insane

Ive smoked for 35 years, bought a vape recently and dropped half of the ciggies I used to smoke. Im incredibly proud of myself and fixing to drop even more.

Im 14, my grandpa died from lung cancer which made me choose to never touch a vapes, cigarettes, or alcohol. I knew the side effects of drinking and smoking from a young age because of my grandma who is still with me.

Doctor Mike is great for people like me that get sucked into the fringe medical loon bubbles. He's a solid stepping stone towards coming back to medical reality.

Vaping: "Carries no value healthwise and can only potentially harm"

Thank you Doctor Mike

Mike absolutely NAILS this answer. It's not about physical harm to the body, it's the mental strain that substance abuse and addiction inflicts on the body. THANK YOU.

All my uni friends who vaped regularly are now smokers. Vaping is socially acceptable indoors so they were doing it 24/7 and going through a pen a day. Vaping got too expensive so they had to turn to a cheaper nicotine fix. I had to stop being around them because the smoke worsened my chronic allergic rhinitis.
Obviously just an anecdote, but it does seem to be a common experience.

Thank you for not sounding like a neanderthal and just being like "Vaping Bad!" I am 36 year old male who smoked from the time I was 13 to 32. Vaping is in no way 100% safe, but for someone like me, it is a far better option than tobacco. I'm down 100 pounds and for the first time in my entire life I can run.

i'm still in my teens, and to this day when i see someone my age trying to look all cool with smoke coming out of their mouth it makes me cringe. up until middle school i thought vaping was only used as an alternative to smoking

I agree with him, as someone who started smoking at a very young age (7) I can attest now that I'm fully grown, that it massively affected my development... cognitive thought and good decision making came way later in life as a result. And I always find myself wondering how far along id be if I hadn't spent nearly 20 years of my life chasing addictions

It’s ironic how vaping started as a way to replace smoking to get people out of smoking addiction, but when it couldn’t it searched for new markets and got even more people who never would have considered smoking to start smoking. And when those that started out from vape couldn’t get enough just vaping, they would turn to cigarettes.

Vaping helped me quit smoking cigarettes. It's super beneficial/helpful for "analog" smokers like me. If you don't smoke, don't start, period.

I remember about 10 years ago there was a bit of research looking at it teens were starting to vape. The data had probably been collected about 1-2 years before being published. Most people who smoke start in their teens, so the concern was that they’d be vaping instead. At that point the research showed that they were not taking up vaping. It was reassuring research.

Now, 10-12 years later, it has changed, teens and adults are taking up vaping without, and without smoking before. We are seeing it more and more young people taking it up, and starting to see health problems from it too.

This is like asking if sodas are healthy. Obviously if your bottle of soda replaces a bottle of wine, it’s better, but replacing water with soda will be bad for you

When I was in the hospital for my heart transplant, a younger person was needing a double lung transplant apparently due to vaping. I am not sure if there were other underlying conditions but that’s what I heard.
