that's a very good question. why is it okay to put the country in so much debt spent on our military at yet all the news channel kick up a big fuss when a politician wants to spend money on education, social services and healthcare.

Two people of stark ideological differences discussing the issues in a very civil manner.

Shame we can't have more of this.

I do miss these two talking. Is everyone doing well today/tonight? Hope you are!

In the United States we will give a 4 year old 14 years of tuition free education (preschool, kindergarten, and 1-12) and no one bats an eye about how to pay for it. But when you suggest that we give an 18 year old 2 to 4 years of tuition free education, everyone loses their mind!

Well, Colbert was being respectful.

Not really surprising that O'Reilly would dodge that question, but how is he so bad at it? Ad hominem followed by a non sequitur? He must have been asked that question a hundred times before and that's the best he's got?

Most amicable I've ever seen O'Reilly. Kudos to Colbert for keeping in control of his show and treating his guest with respect.

First, Let's dispell with this notion that Bill O'Reilly doesn't know what he's doing. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Man Colbert was pretty tame... I was hoping he would shred the shit out of Bill

"You have to spend money to defend yourself..." I think we now know to what Bill was referring.

"I'll take that as a compliment"
-"Sure, why not?" xD

Bill O'Reilly on why we shouldn't fund arts & education "We have to get away from this fantasy that the government can solve all problems by kicking money in"

And that's justified for our wars/interventions in other countries how...?

I like how he says the gas lines were under Carter, while failing to mention that the Republican Richard Nixon was the first to implement these price ceiling controls on gasoline.

"Thank you for being so inspiring" has to be one of the mightiest disses of our decade

Crucify me if you want, but Bill O'Reilly is a pretty smart dude. I think FOX news makes him be very sensationalist and extreme. In reality he seems to be a more realistic person.

Colbert is such a pro.
Quicker, smarter, and funnier on all fronts. Well done, Mr. Colbert.

O'Reilly on defence: "I think most people will agree that you have to spend money to defend yourself..."

On Education: "We have to get away from the fantasy that the government can solve all the problems by kicking money in..."

So yes, Stephen, quite respectfully, didn't call Bill a hypocrite.

"We have to get away from this fantasy that the government can solve all the problems by kicking money in"
5 seconds earlier:
"You have to do it by spending money, "
Also, Sanders and Trump are the same.
For all our sake's, I hope his next book is Killing Cognitive Dissonance.

What a great point made by Colbert. This wasn't a liberal attack or conservative attack, but rather a question. How does the US have seamlessly an unlimited amount of money to spend on war and colonialism, yet we "can't" guarantee healthcare and education to every man, woman, and child? Other countries do this and have had a lot of success.
