Once you get your puppy to come when you call by teaching them to come in and touch your hand, which we call targeting, then you are ready for the second step of recall training. The second step of getting your puppy to come when you call is introducing the cue for recall. The cue we use for recall is "here". When teaching your dog to come back when you call there are three main steps. First you need to develop a behavior, second introduce a cue or command, and third condition and generalize! In this video we show when and how to introduce the cue or command "here" when working on recall with your dog.

Just got a new pudlepointer pup 3 days ago and she has been doing awesome with our charging clicker sessions. How long do you recommend I should continue charging before introducing the cue?

I tried this the first time the other day but my Blue Heeler puppy (3 months and 1 week) is EXTREMELY food motivated and is already following me around. He already knows “stay” and my like come here command “ok” to come out of stay, but how would I get him to learn “here” for just everyday use? As in when we are not training he can just ignore me haha.

I love you guys I watch alot I've got dogs that are quite a bit like the ones you train they are very big energetic wow and just turning seven months they are smart but they love to mess with you. I've been wanting to order the e color clicker and all the items you have to Trai. Little harder than I thought love to run away they need alot of work.

My 11 week old GSP is just not food driven. He loves liver treats but I hate giving him those frequently. With his regular food, he can take it or leave it. Very frustrating and it make training very tough.

My puppy didn't have its tail cropped when it was born, and it's 105 dollars to have it done now, she's 11 weeks old. Is tail cropping mainly a cosmetic thing?

We have been doing training at each meal time (3X a day) with our 9 week old black lab. He caught on very quickly to sit and to the here command with clicker training. He gets these things within only a few sessions each not even. What can I do to test that he actually is getting it? Should I try a session mixing up the commands or is it too early for that? How do you know when it’s time to move onto a new trick? Seems a little too good to be true lol.

Why use "here, " as opposed to "come"? It seems like "here" would sound close to "heal" for a dog learning commands. Thanks.
