Is it just me or has the media stopped talking about the flammability metric? I forgot what it is called but it is based on if you drop 100 matches how many would start a fire. I think they stopped talking about it cause the chances are/have been so high that it doesn't really say much anymore cause of the driness

UNfortunate to see this happen, but with a drought nothing can keep this from happening. You cant remove all the dead stuff and what about the grasss, no amount of forest management can prevent this, but only slow down the fire. No precip means EVERYTHING dries up, people should consider moving out of a forested area, ESPECIALLY when there is no precip or not enough to keep this from happening on a large scale

I remember a couple of years ago up here in Oregon we had some days that were so dark you couldn't see the sun. Black and red sky, ash everywhere. It hurts on so many levels to see environmental destruction like this. I just hope no one lost any loved ones, pets included. It makes me wonder how many animals are killed in these events. I have to assume they are keen to what's going on but fire is insane and I'm sure lots of creatures may become trapped. What a waste.
