Maybe it's time to ban amateur fishing? I read an article saying that they are having a disproportionate effect on nature.

If they can't be responsible, maybe they should find a more constructive and less cruel hobby?

I have saved countless shore birds from fish hooks that people cut the line to because of accidental snagging its better to reel in the animal and get the hook out than to leave it because it can ultimately kill it especially if alot of line is attached to it. The birds wings and legs can get tangled mak8ng the removal worse so be mindful and if you snag one do your best to get it to shore and take the hook out
