Why is the Screaming Goat Meme in So Many Movies!?

Every time I hear the Goat scream I picture a bunch of middle age writers going “how you do fellow kids”, not realizing the first kids that enjoyed that content are close to turning 30 by now.

To me, the screaming goat is in the same boomer level of thinking stuff like "the internet is a place where you look at just cat videos" or "some random guy falling is 40 billion views worthy, with people bullying the guy for that" or even the mighty "a dog waking itself up with its own fart is the pinnacle of humor"

The reason why "the goat scream" is in so many movies is actually because the sound effect is from iMovie/Sony Vegas iirc. This means the audio for this scream is most likely preinstalled on every editor's Mac, and when they find it they can't help not use it. It's like the wilhelm scream.

The fact that Taika Waititi had just learned about it 5 years after it was made was eye opening for me. Some of these people really are so out of the loop that it takes years longer for trends to reach them. Crazy

Don't forget 2015's Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School, where at one point it's mentioned that Rowley's dad's phone died because some of Greg's fellow campers stole it to laugh their asses off at screaming goats videos.
