I recently bought this 14 year old Mac Pro 5,1 from eBay. It’s tricked out with modern graphics, SSD storage and 48 *gigabytes* of RAM. Let’s check it out!

I didn't know a G5 could run these recent OS. Supercharging PowerPc based Macs is more fun

Nice. I owned a Mac Pro similar to this one back in about 2012. It worked well but I found that MacOS wasn't as useful as I thought: I spent all my time in Windows and Linux VMs. In the end I sold it, for a fairly handsome price, and bought a pair of SFF PCs which did the same job but cheaper. It was a thing of beauty, though.

i would put a linux distro instead of windows 11 but other than that this is an amazing project

Its a 2 ghz PPC g5 with three monitors. MorphOS supports dual monitors with the right GPU, but the ad was pretty vague about what's inside this one. He wants like $125 for the package so I won't complain.

Shame Apple is doing everything they can to hinder secondhand sales and repair/upgrading. It's why I just built hackintoshes for people when I still did that.
