What Are Follow Bots, Hate Raids, And Bot Follows On Twitch?

A Follow Bot is usually when an individual sends dozens, sometimes thousands of fake followers to a Streamer while they are live to troll them or to trigger their alerts for the next few hours.

A Bot Raid is when an individual sends dozens, sometimes thousands of bot accounts to your chat to not only follow you, but also spam hateful comments, slurs, or sometimes a random string of numbers.

How To Stop Bots On Twitch

While live I recommend everyone has the Stream Manager Dashboard open, this allows you access to a lot of quick action buttons that will make most of this safe, yours might not look like mine here on the right but you can add any Quick Action Buttons by clicking the +

So you’re hit with a Bot Raid, your alerts are going off and your chat is being spammed, the first thing you’re going to do is turn on Follower Only Mode meaning only users who follow can chat, this is literally the only time I will ever tell you to use Follower only by the way.

If you use the quick action it usually defaults that there is no cooldown between following and chatting, so I actually recommend turning Follower Only chat by going down below your chatbox, clicking the cog, selecting Follower Only, and selecting 10 minutes.

This should stop the bot messages for now.

Next, you’ll want to click the Clear Chat History Quick action button, this will wipe away all of the messages that were sent originally. I will show you how you can rally your community to also help in a second but first, you’ll also want to skip alerts.

In your broadcasting software, you’ll have a button to skip alerts, Streamlabs has it here, and Streamelements has it here if you are using their obs live plugin.

The final step is to mark the time In-Stream using a marker quick action so you can find the section later for reporting the accounts or removing the follows using CommanderRoot.

I usually have verified email on. It's honestly one of the most effective ways of dealing with bots. A maker of bots isn't going to constantly verify each bot in order to view channels.

Thank you for this! Still new. I got raided within the first couple days of streaming and I got a ton of followers (96). I didn't even have game audio coming through! I thought it was cool at the time but just didn't seem real. The only chatters I get are people trying to sell me on graphic design! I adjusted my mod settings and even added Sery Bot. Hopefully it helps!

If you block the bots or people you don’t want following you in general, they will be removed from your followers list. /block *username* in the chat and you’re good to go.
