Firstly you should always listen to song's as either MP3 format or from a Live Concert on Apple & Android Phone's as they don't deliver a great sound via their built in speaker or speakers so they should always be listened to with headphones plugged into your phones as your hear every thing so much better, especially the bass guitar, but i do think Mark's sound on his bass guitar's or his amp set up or PA Mixing or All 3 really needs improving since moving over to Status Bass Guitar's as JD Supernatural Series of bass guitar's they are not but they sound a lot better than the sound Mark gets playing them Live...

To me & predominantly all fans including bass players we wish Mark would go back to using his JD Supernatural Series Bass Guitar as they & other Series of JD Bass Guitar's sound better than when Mark uses his various rang of Status Bass Guitar's...

For years i put Marks not so great sound down to the Status Bass Guitar's being the most probable cause & fault or more respectfully the sound coming out of these bass guitar's he used, until recently i bought this same bass hes plsying in this Live Show which is the Status Series II Bass Guitar with a headstock instead of headless & playing my Status Series II through my amp & the settings i use on my amp & my Status Series II Bass Guitar "i got such a better sound " on the same bass guitar when shifting to the back pick up & mixing my bass/mids & treble on my bass guitar & the sound was so much better to the point i personally think its what Marks amps are & how hes setting his amp & bass to are at fault as mine sounded great & though the Status Bass Guitar's have their own sound that you can dial in to get that more mid & treble sounding sounding bass that Mark used on the JD Supernatural Series & now his Status Bass Guitar's & i can assure those out there that Status are great bass guitars that can cover a wide range
of sounds...

The reason i bought a Status as i knew of their build quality & many have praised their overall sound over the last 2 plus decades so i decided i was going to get at least 1 and see & hear what they are like for myself & i can easily say that after buying a Status that said Luthier who builds these Status Bass Guitar's " Rob Green " does make bass guitars that look just as fantastic as they look (but none of that matters) unless they Sound As Fantastic as they look also & They Do...

Not long after buying the Status Series II i bought the Status KingBass Artist & sent it to Rob to replace some things that needed changed along with some of my own additions & a bass guitar that looked down & out on arriving to me is now a beauty & i was correct in buying this bass as i could see a Diamond In The Rough & 3 weeks prior it was a 19 year bass that looked every bit as old & used up as far as body parts were concerned but after doing work on it myself before sending it off to Rob to replace & set this bass up the way i wanted & it has now been rescued & any bassist would be proud and glad to own such a bass guitar...

Lets just say the Sellers opinion of the condition of this bass guitar being fine was nowhere near my idea of fine but now my Status KingBass Artist is every inch an amazing looking bass that sounds & looks as good as it sounds just like my Status Series II & again reiterate that i got a fantastic sound from the Status KingBass Artist also, so Mark's sound must be down to his preference on his amp/bass guitar & how its mixed through the PA for the fans to hear as the thin tinny sound that Mark is getting since moving over to playing on a Status Bass is not down to the Status Bass Guitar's he's been using but his sound preferences ...

There's only one Live Gig that Mark's sound was better was the recorded for DVD Live Show (i think it was) in Reading in 2001 but dont quote me on that as i'd have to dig that DVD up out of all the boxes that are filled with my possessions still in them since i moved to another flat & i havent finished unpacking as of yet...

To me the best Live Gig(s) Level 42 did were the one's recorded for the recording on Vinyl & Cassette Tapes which is the " Physical Presence " Live album & though they are still amazing Live that recorded Live Album, were only A Few (i think) Were Recorded At A Different Live Show, & to me is still the best they have ever sounded live & its a pity that this live show of that album wasn't recorded for a VCR & then onto DVD & Blu Ray, rather than just the audio performance...

As it is one of their very best live shows out there of every live show thats been recorded just for audio or to go on to a VCR version that would then go on to DVD which the latter would go on to be the better chosen format visually & for audio performances for Movie's & Live Concerts...

If your a Level 42 fan & you haven't heard the audio recording (only) of the " Physical Presence " Live album then i recommend you do so & you'll hear what i mean & to me it is the best live performance they've ever done & thats a bold statement to make considering the amount of Live Shows you can get on DVD but the one that stands out & above them all was only recorded in audio format... Bummer... lol

Hopefully the 40th Anniversay Tour which was called " From Eternity To Here " that was to kick off in October 2020 was cancelled because of this still ongoing coronavirus & lets hope the new date of October 2021 will go ahead as this is a band that if your not even a big fan but like their songs you should go & see them play on live as they are amazing & they have a great back catalogue of vocal hit singles that hsve you dancing & singing all the way through the show along with their many instrumental tracks that they also recorded & before the latter from time to time...

In.light of this still ongoing coronavirus outbreak stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world...
