I forgot to mention that my son in law’s boss bought a sawmill. He said since I follow your feed, I have to come show him how to run it. I laughed and told him all I know about running a sawmill is how to push play and pause on my iPad when watching your videos.

Beautiful red oak. When I was in my early teens, Dad took ownership of the farm from Grandpa and then cut the oak in the wood lots to help pay for it. The logger had a Lane Sawmill and set it up on the main farm wood lot. Part of the deal was for the logger to make some 2x4’s for adding a shed roof to the horse barn. About 2 years later the shed roof project was underway. The oak was used as purlins and the roofing was aluminum. Dad’s buddies came to help put down the roofing. Started about 9:00 AM and by 9:30 they were done, and only the first sheet of aluminum was in place. Ever try to drive an aluminum nail into dry oak? Can’t be done by a bunch of weekend warriors with minimal carpentry experience. Today, a screw bit on a cordless drill would work, but this was late ‘50’s. Lots of cussing and yelling and joking, they had fun with the short time they were there.

Hey mate, good on you for talking openly about prostate cancer or procedures for diagnosing it. I got diagnosed when I was 43, I got told I had between 1 to 5 years to go. That was in 2014! Just be open about it, such is life!! Thank you.

I’ve had a few of those “crappy” tests in my day. Your out of service for 2 days a least. Glad everything is good. Looking forward to more videos.

Been cutting fire wood for 50 years and just recently I mean last 10 years got into sawing logs into boards, first on a bandsaw then a chainsaw mill. I look forward all the time to cutting logs into boards. If you were closer i'd be over volunteering to help you. I love seeing boards cut. these were some lovely red oak boards! I enjoy watching you.

I'd like to see a vid of making flooring from log to actual piece of flooring. Glad you did the routine procedure and it came out alright. I can tell you from first hand experience that you don't want them to come back saying they found something. It's been a long 2yrs.

I have watched your vlog since you really lived in the woods. I used those videos to construct my kiln. I have an LT 40 wide hydraulic and a wood shop. I mostly saw walnut and cherry for personal use. I have 5 acres in suburban rural Chicago. Have learned volumes from your videos. Couple suggestions: instead of a concrete pad i used pavers. Easy to install and can change the configuration if you wish. For saw dust collection I purchased a fishnet laundry bag, cut that black hose down to 6-8” and used hose clamps to afix hooks to the metal exit tube just above the black tubing. I use the handles to hang the bag on the hooks. I have 2 large wheeled garbage cans to periodically position under the laundry bag, raise the head and unzip the bag dumping the sawdust into the garbage can. The blow by saw dust on the pad is usually very light and can be blown away with the electric blower. Saves a lot of shovelling cause i just dump the cans on to the burn pile. You current operation is sweet and efficient. Before winter i sawed 6x6 and 4x4 white oak to make a roof over my pad. Dont work in the cold so i wait for spring and watch you. You are an inspiration. —JSP
