I remember this song from back in the day, but I don't think I ever saw the video. I can appreciate the symbolism of the band and background vocalists being in silhouette! Also, I agree wholeheartedly that she was underrated as a vocalist, perhaps being overshadowed by the more fiery personas of Stevie and Lindsey. Many of my favorite solo moments in FM are Christine.

When Fleetwood was a blues band with Peter Green as the lead singer they toured a couple times with Chicken Shack. The Story Goes that Peter and John McVie both liked Christine at the time but John was the first one to ask her out they got married in 68 she left Chicken Shack in 69 and briefly retired from music. By that time she was touring with Fleetwood because she was married to John and actually because of her writing skill and piano kept Fleetwood from breaking up after Peter left by helping them with songs. She officially joined in 1970 I only know this because I'm reading Mick fleetwood's book LOL she was my favorite of the band as well, I love her voice and everything she wrote for Fleetwood

Fleetwood Mac. “Hold me” is an incredible song. Especially the live version.

Christine McVie was SO painfully underrated, both as a singer AND songwriter on her own and with FM. Her voice was without doubt the strongest in the band, due to both its warmth and melodic ability. She got more credit as a writer than as a singer, and that's a shame, because she brought that light, gentle melodic touch to both areas of her career. And she was brilliant at it.

Christine McVie was always a distinctive voice even in Chicken Shack and certainly in Fleetwood Mac. There has always been an "insistence" in her voice that made you pay attention whether it was an upbeat song or a bluesy number, a kind of urgency that enhanced the emotional impact of the music that was dramatic rather than theatric like Stevie Nick's. I think that her music had more in common with Lindsey's than Stevie's.

Beth, you're simply vibrant! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't ever meet many of these artists. Good work

Beautiful. I always enjoy your reaction videos, Beth. First one I saw was of Elvis, a while back. Your comments and observations are spot on, and you are adorable. What's not to like.

What's funny is if you ever hear her speak, she has that really thick Northern accent with a very soothing deep voice much like she sings

What's interesting about this period of her vocals is that they were actually a bit frayed and had lost some of the sweeter side. She worked with vocal teacher after this and regained an even sweeter tone then she had before this record. It would be interesting to watch you analyze her 1970s tone and then her 1987 tone after this. They are all very different yet equally compelling.
