Saad University: Seven Minute Semester— Howard Zinn, Charles Darwin...and Noam Chomsky?!

Why does #GadSaad revile #NoamChomsky, #HowardZinn yet still agree their research is worthy of being on the curriculum at the (for now) fictional "Saad University"?

What is most impressive about Charles Darwin?

What is the ESSENTIAL epistemological tool for all serious academic research?

All this, and more, in this Brianstorm clip from The INTO THE IMPOSSIBLE Podcast.

Chomsky was one of the most vocal critics of post modernism, he literally debated Focault in the early 70's.

What an outrageous mischaracterization of Chomsky.

Such a horrific mischaracterization of Chomsky.

Every country needs its own Noam Chomsky snapping at its heels. IMO, the fact that Chomsky, Zinn et al thrive here is a testament to America's freedom of expression, even if they are a bit one-sided.

Saad seems to think that we're born with predetermined identities and ways of looking at the world. That's a bit weird given what we know about humans:

The human brain is plastic. Our ability to adapt to whatever environment is our most distinguished and successful evolutionary trait. Our adaptability is a consequence of us absorbing the details of our environment, and changing the way our brains work to deal with that environment in the most efficient/effective way. To say that this doesn't involve numerous processes of social (and psychological) construction which affect one's identity, morals and other personal epistemologies is odd and short sighted. It's like the guy was never a teenager.

My advice is definitely learn how to think. Just don't let Gad Saad tell you how to do it.

THE CHOMSKY CHARACTERISATION WAS WAY OFF TO SAY THE LEAST

Chomsky should debate Gad Saad. I'd love to see that debate.

The characterisation of Chomsky is so unfair. What a hack.

Did you even challenge him in the slightest Brian? I didn't watch the full interview but this strange edit seems to approve of what Gad says.

Imagine complaining about Chomsky because he doesn’t stay in his academic lane when you yourself by pretending to have authority on the very subject, are in doing so, not staying in your lane. Besides anyone who can read can “pontificate” on issues of the humanities. He doesn’t do it for the sake of intellectual boasting but as a moral duty. Academic achievement = a powerful voice = a duty to expose injustice and to stand up for those who cannot to the same degree.

Tell us what you know about history, economics linguistics, philosophy of mind, political philosophy, role of science. I can answer it.Noam knows many many things, he is a polymath in the era of specialization and the most important thing is his humanism .He has fought for a better world, for love and peace .This guy hasn’t done anything of these above .Respect Noam Chomsky

It is sad when you need to "criticize" some great guy, just to catch some attention.

Spot on as he pulls the wool away from out eyes, inoculating us from the mind virus that plagues popular perspectives. Cheerio.
