Elections expert David Becker denounces 'efforts to sow confusion and chaos'

David Becker, the executive director and founder of the Center for Election Innovation and Research, says he is focused on "efforts to sow confusion and chaos" surrounding election results.

David Becker served for seven years as a senior trial attorney in the Voting Section of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, overseeing voting rights enforcement in several states, including California and Georgia, and served as lead counsel on major voting rights litigation, including the case of Georgia v. Ashcroft, ultimately decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Shouldn't the same apply to the news, government, and political campaigns by law.

If the government can prohibit unfair or deceptive acts in commerce why would we expect or accept less from the government, those campaigning for a seat or position, or the news. In essence they (government and campaigns) are all selling us something, even if it's an idea, goal or plan. As for the news, there is a major difference between a reporter getting wrong information and intentionally misleading others.

The lack of integrity lies inherently with the Party system of Government and campaign finance because the Parties' interests are placed above the public's interests. Legislation and policies are formulated to benefit the Parties and skew the balance in their favor rather than serve the public's interests which have nothing to do with either Party and are most often at odds with the Parties' interests.
