Zooming-in on the remote quasar P172+18

preview_player
Показать описание
This video sequence starts from a wide-field view of the region of the sky around P172+18 and closes in on the very distant quasar, a bright object that lies at the centre of a remote galaxy and is powered by a supermassive black hole. The galaxy itself is surrounded by a very large bubble of ionised gas; artist's impressions of both the bubble and the galaxy are seen in the sequence. The final view is an artist’s impression of the quasar and its radio jets.

Its a mix of real data and artists representation of specific structures like the giant gas bubble. Please learn to read the description before saying its fake with extremely bad english ;)

If you watch this on a really good screen, at 0:10, a little below top left corner, you can clearly see the fabulous edge-on spiral "needle" galaxy NGC4565. And at 0:12, a bit to the right of bottom left centre, you can see the edge-on spiral "hot dog" galaxy NGC3628. They are very very small at this scale.

Estes zoom são espectaculares...parece que entramos na viagem e chegamos ao Quasar muito luminoso e distante no espaço de segundos!!Incrível...

is the end picture the artistic representation of it? I know the rest was the true mosaics shots, but that end was unusual haha

Wow, they even have graphics artists over there!

It's just my opinion, but I don't like that the final image is an artist's impression.

So is there an actual picture of a quasar like this it can we only see the laser beams in artistic renditions?

Thought the bubble was a simple nebula, then I read that it is a super mega gargantuan bubble around a growing spec of a super bright galaxy emerging into view!? My mind is blown and spirit humbled. The physics going on here... what might it be like to live on a planet in such a galaxy when looking at the night sky? What has been destroyed in the path of the beam? What other alien minds have thought similar thoughts gazing at this object from different viewpoints... So many curiosities become difficult to tame seeing this video.

Impressionante.

No c'è altro modo per definire la distanza di certi oggetti e quanto siamo piccoli a confronto. Parliamo di luce proveniente dall'inizio dell'universo (quasi)

Amazing. Impressive.
there's no other way to describe how much far are these object and how much we are small. This light comes almost from the begin of the Universe

(difficile d argrandir un pixel et de voir net dessus?)

It would be so nice if we visit this Galaxy with light years per second.

une galaxie c est un champs d etoile et pas un champs de gaz pour y voir un quazar derriere

The zoom does not give a real approximation. At the same time, huge objects do not become larger, but for the eye they still look like grains of sand without the slightest detail. Blurred general view. Details are important.

THere are LOTS of NGC galaxies in this field, but at this resolution they are barely indistinguishable from stars. Pity :(
