Very interesting! Ten+ years of learning how to control bad days of RA, I had no idea about Psoriatic arthritis. Thank you for educating us about the difference…

When I first went to a new pharmacy to order Cosentyx, the pharmacist assumed I had RA, but actually I have Psoriatic Arthritis. She said it was because most of their patients on Cosentyx were taking it to treat RA. Knowing that Cosentyx has fewer side effects with none of the scary ones listed like Humira does (I was on it previously for 5 yrs), I mention I was glad to hear this news because my son has RA and I could tell him to ask his Rheumatologist if he could switch to Cosentyx. Then the pharmacist told me it had not been approved yet for RA yet; therefore, RA patients are prescribed Cosentyx "off-label" which means most insurance companies will NOT cover it which stinks. I'd like to know if you ever prescribe Cosentyx off-label to RA patients and if so, do they tend to do just as well on it as those on Humira. Why hasn't Cosentyx been approved yet to treat RA? IMO Cosentyx works much better than Humira. For one thing I rarely have back pain anymore, and it's never as bad as when I was on Humira, which is such a blessing. Also, since being on Cosentyx I rarely have any IBS episodes. Here's hoping you are one of the doctors out here that actually reads and answers replies... fingers crossed. :)

These are my symptoms:
Skin rashes typical of Psoriasis, on my lover arms and lower legs
Toe and finger nails that look dry, pitted, thick and lifted
Dropped Right food
Missing knee jerk reflex on my left leg
Unable to push up on left leg from squat position or when lying flat on my back
Left thigh, left knee, both legs below the knee, including feet, hurt, and are swollen
If I sit motionless pain goes away. The moment I move, it comes back
Nights are the worst. Although all the swelling goes down, pain is the worst.
Morning are horrendous. Especially getting out of bed.
I don't take and pain meds since they all have bad side effects.
I have seen army of doctors and specialist, and had every test and procedure done, no diagnosis yet.
Nerve conductivity tests revealed some axonal nerve damage in left leg. I've been taking mega doses of vitamin B12. Every new day is the worse than the day before. Quality of life is zero...

Could you also address heart inflammation in PSA? I had a rheumatologist tell me that heart inflammation is an issue and without biologics the average patient dies 15 years earlier. I’m 70 and went off all meds 4 years ago. Humira/Enbrel gave me drug induced lupus.
