A French Canadian worked with us, we went out for breakfast, he wanted two eggs sunny side up but ordered it and I quote, "I'd like two eggs facing the sun". The waitress laughed and understood right away what he meant.

I had a similar situation in South America 30yrs ago, watching a female missionary & a local pastor in front of 5000 people! (Not my thing! But, I was working in a charity & was invited & to the fiesta/BBQ afterwards.) She wanted to say "I'm embarrassed to be here & its all your fault as she patted the pastor on the back! She actually said" Estoy embarazada y es todo tu culpa" Translated "I'm pregnant & it's all your fault!" 😂😂😂 The crowd went silent! I however, was laughing out loud! Best evening that's never left me!

In my leadership course for the Navy, One of our instuctors was french-canadian. His famous line in the field was to tap the top of head and shout "EVERYBODY, COME ON ME!!!" 20 or so sailors trying to stifle belly laughs... every time.
