Variable Router Jig

Using a variable router jig to pocket for this steel table leg on the back of this cherry table top. I used some setup blocks around the leg equal to the offset from my guide bushing, the 1/2" downcut bit worked perfectly following the variable template, once the majority was cut a corner chisel made for easy squaring of the edges for a perfect fit! Some people just don’t seem to grasp this isn’t DIY crafting, this is wood working top tier craftsmanship, yes older ways exist to do this, but he can do it way faster with the arsenal of tools he has, he can craft amazing pieces of art quickly, when did it become a bad thing to be precise and efficient with time while doing something you are passionate about and still be profitable? lol make it make sense.

I did the same thing the other day with some scraps of wood and a cheap router. Perfection is a wonderful thing. Tonight that jig is roasting marshmallows in the fire pit.
