"The River Is Flowing" was a chant written in the 1970s by Sun Bear, a member of the Chippewa Tribe. He was born in the White Earth Reservation in the North of the United States on 31 August 1926 and died on 19 June 1992 at the age of 66 in Spokane, Washington. - Additional verses were added by E. Barrie Kavash in her 2005 novel "Sacred Cave" which is set in North America's prehistoric southeast.

then we just repeat it in a round and everything

@bettany Eates, That is the old version, sister moon came later in 1995 if I remember right, the 2 other verses are only reasondly..it is the nature of the
Rainbow songs, that they're changing over the years because brothers and sisters singing them around the world. Its not unusual that texts, melody and even timing / rythrms may change slitly and people also composing a text/lyrics to it. So the song will changeing a bit and flow along like the water, thats the beauty of it.
