Slayer played in a total dive basement bar in Winnipeg in 1984 and played a couple tunes from the yet unreleased Hell Awaits album. Then some douchebags stole their guitars. They never came back to Winnipeg until 2000..and I was front row center; screaming "Necrophiliac!" at the time of the show when the music stops and Araya just folds his arms and listens to the crowd. Still my favorite song. He looked at me and smiled..then spoke into the mic Ensemble!! They came back to Winnipeg many times after that...I guess all was forgiven...

Hell awaits is by far my Favorite Slayer album of all time.... Slayer at their most raw and hellish... I absolutely love how even though the guitars are thinner the bass is turned up in the mix to where not only does it deviate from what the guitars are doing from time to time but actually complements the thin guitars sound and does what the bass was inteded for.... To be the low end and be its own thing rather than something that follows what the guitars do and is there to back up the guitars like later slayer albums....

HELL AWAITS was the original"RAISE THE BAR" record. Then when they did Seasons in the Abyss, It was the coup de gras. SLAYER RULES!

Metal Massacre. First time hearing Metallica and Slayer, on a compilation album. All singles. "Show No Mercy", "Hit The Lights!", and a few others.
Always was into these bands! "Hell Awaits" was the most recent Slayer album, and it was great. Even my "Hardcore" friends were blown away by their incredible Speed, intensity, and superior tightness. Hell did indeed await.
I'll never forget seeing The Cassette for "Reign in Blood", and grabbing it, and going to the cashier. Didn't even listen in the car.
Just got back from working for a month. Picked up my ex(cause she could cop some great weed), dropped her off, and pulled into the nearest place to park.
Smoked a few hits before going on this adventure! Fall, 86', I believe. Many incredible stories from that Tour, I'm sure!
