Es una agrupación musical de thrash metal estadounidense fundada en 1981 por los guitarristas Jeff Hanneman y Kerry King en Huntington Park, California. Para completar su formación, King y Hanneman reclutaron al bajista y vocalista de origen chileno Tom Araya y al baterista de origen cubano Dave Lombardo. Éste último ha estado fluctuando dentro y fuera de la banda durante varios años. Slayer alcanzó la fama gracias a la edición de Reign in Blood, calificado como «el álbum más heavy[2] de todos los tiempos» según la revista Kerrang!.[3] Gracias a esta fama, el grupo fue incluido durante los años ochenta dentro de los Cuatro grandes del thrash metal junto con Metallica, Megadeth y Anthrax.

Rock am Ring:
es un festival de música rock que se celebra anualmente en el circuito de Nürburgring en Alemania. Es el mayor festival de Alemania y uno de los mayores de Europa.

I remember going to see slayer in 2002 in Manchester UK in 2002, I couldn't believe that Dave lombardo was back in the band, I hadn't seen slayer since 1991 because I could not watch another drummer with them, Dave played with such enthusiasm and pure love of metal when he came back to the band, it was plain to see that he was playing better than he had ever done in his whole life, even the vibe between the members of the band was healthy and probably the best it had ever been since he left for a few months after the recording of reign in blood, that was because he was getting nowhere near the kind of pay cheque he should have been, right from the reign in blood period the management and a certain band member were under cutting him financially and trying to give him a session drummers wage and the equal share that he thought he was getting,
And even when slayer were lucky enough to get him back and get their proper second wind they still didn't do the right thing and pay him as they should, and kerry King and the management were fully aware of what they were doing.
