To put into perspective how long Jojolion is, the second to final arc (won’t name it because major spoilers) has more pages than the entirety of Phantom Blood

WOW, the anime really makes part 3 seem much longer than it is, in comparison to the other parts

Part Five having 3121 pages is a crazy coincidence because Giorno's stand, Gold Experience, is a reference to Prince's album "The Gold Experience" and Prince had another major album called "3121". Genius

After doing this for so many years you think the man would start to lose his creativity but he keeps writing bigger and more complex storylines each part. Respect.

Well, I mean yeah...Araki was working on Jojolion for a whole 10 years, there's definitely bound to be a lot of pages.

The more Araki wrote the more experience he got and became a better writer. Not to mention as JoJo's popularity grew he also got more freedom from his editors to do what he wanted and the move from Shounen Jump to Ultra Jump also benefited the quality of his work.

Phantom Blood was done in less than a year. If Araki had written it today it would have probably taken him 7 years to a decade going by how long SBR and JoJolion took. Jonathan would also look like how Araki currently draws him and probably have had a meaner streak considering Araki mentioned that he wrote Jonathan as too much of a good person because of the era the character was created in and if he could write him again he would make him less of a good guy.

I also think in Johnny Araki got to explore some of the stuff more in depth that he never got to with Jonathan. Like George being a neglectful father and the fact that George favored Jonathan's/Johnny's brother over him (Dio in Phantom Blood, Nick in SBR and he'll SBR's George even liked Diego more) and how all of that affects Johnny's character. Jonathan's misery and lonely youth in BP and what Dio does to him makes him swear vengeance on Dio but it doesn't affect his optimism and personality that much. With Johnny however his own tragedies lead to a lot of misfortune for him and makes him a selfish and terrible person who cares more about freeing himself of his misery not caring who he tramples or kills. And in the end Johnny has to grow into a heroic character.

A modern Jonathan would resemble Johnny more although maybe not as ruthless or cruel considering he needs to contrast Dio's more evil and sadistic nature. But he certainly would be allowed to be more flawed and selfish.

Part 5's Page count is a Divine reference to Prince's 31st album "3121". Ik it wasn't intentional but it's a mad coincidence.
