My mother was a Japanese War Bride. My father tried three times to ask permission to marry her from the Marines, each time he was immediately transferred stateside. But because they needed volunteers for the occupation of Japan he was transferred back to Japan, back to the same base as before. The fourth time they were allowed them to get married. When my father told his family he married a Japanese, we were never welcomed into the family. To this day have no ideal who they are and where they are.

True, some brides experienced racist in-laws back home who tried to westernize the bride's, but the majority we're warmly received. No one can resist pretty Asian gals.

What would happen if I went to Japan today? I've heard that there are Americans that have lived there for years and have learned the language that are still not accepted. I'm not saying that it's right. I believe that now we are better than most. We are a country of immigrants.

How is it possible to fall down 7 times and stand up 8? Surely if you fall down 7 times and stand up each time you have stood up 7 times? How can you stand up 8? You are already standing up. You would need to fall down again if you wanted to stand up an eighth time. Stupid saying, stupid title.
