I can't be the only one who thinks it doesn't sound too bad, right?

I drove an Ecoboost convertible rental car this summer. It's a lot of fun. And it has a surprising amount of get up and go for a 4 cylinder. But you're right, that 10 speed auto transmission is all over the place. I'm sure it's all for gas mileage and the low 0-60 time, but it's a bit of a pain in the ass to drive on a daily basis in town because it doesn't downshift fast enough. You have to use the paddles to get it to do what you want it to do.

My mind likes the HP and torque figures but my ears and heart just can’t accept the sound

Love the car, but 43k it too much. Not dissing the 4 banger, its a great engine (for a 4cyl) but for 43k you can get ALOT of other good vehicles

I used to be a die hard manual fan until I had to sit in bumper to bumper traffic every day after work.

Thank you for the drive. I appreciate it.
First the transmission. This car with auto tranny was mainly designed for daily drive and fuel efficiency in mind. I'm not surprised one bit that it isn't that great in sport mode. If you're in sport mode and blasting back roads, this car should be in manual using the paddle shifters for performance driving.
I guarantee that you can shift the car much better than it can shift itself when burning back roads. I owned a MB SLC300, 4 cyl, auto. and it's basically the same type of setup. In manual mode I could hold gears around corners and shift myself on the straights much better than the car could do it itself., for highway driving leave it in comfort or normal and let it do its thing.
2nd is the sound. the 4 cyl gives the driver and passenger decent thrill without alerting every cop within a mile of your presence which is great for tooling back roads.
3rd is the engine.. holy shit does this car freakin fly, 20 yrs ago a 4 cyl couldn't get out of its own way and now look at what Ford has done, very freakin fast pony car, it flat out hauls ass and handles like a dream. I'm not saying it's better than a GT, I'm saying it serves a role. It's for owning back roads on a weekend morning or daily driving to work without breaking the bank or losing your license. If you have a half hour commute or longer there's a good chance you drive partial highway and the rest back road. This car gives you the ability to have some fun every day on the way to and from work and then mash back roads on the weekend.
I'd take one in convertible and put it through it's paces every day but I wouldn't buy it new, let someone else take the depreciation hit and get one still under warranty. Great car, thanx for the vid

10 speeds are amazing on V8's. My buddy has a 10A 2019 GT and it is just beautiful. You can literally hit 130 in 4th gear

At that price tag, I'd rather get a GT premium

Can you hear the turbo whistle though?

Since getting my 2.7L F-150, I've become a total turbo fanboy and much more open to the 4-cylinder mustang.

I just purchased a brand new 2020 GT Premium in velocity blue with a blackout package for 42.5. No way should a 4 cylinder run you 43..

My drive to work is a 50 miles daily trip, I thought a mustang was out of the question until this thing showed up

7:58 I was reading the comments and I thought it sounded like a lawn mower, nothing against the 4 cil tho, it makes more HP than the v6, and sound is not bad for the engine size.

You can’t have the words eco and high-performance in the same sentence. I’m calling the police.
