One thing that folks may not realize is that chromatics come in three, four, and five rows on the right side. The basic layout is three rows and the additional rows are repeats of the first and second rows.

That Roland is fully electronic accordion and has an unfair advantage over that diatonic accordion. The Roland can swap between being a B system and then C system, the Roland also has an advantage over the normal 5 row. One big disadvantage of chromatic over the diatonic is the weight of chromatic accordions. I mainly play a 5 row Fantini with 96 bass and 37 playing notes on the treble side. It is a 3 voice box. I do like having a go on the diatonic, I have the Chinese made Hohner poka work in DG. The big advantage of the 5 row is the ability to transpose into different keys and play the same finger pattern only starting on a different button. I used to play piano accordion but when I tried the 5 row (which looked complicated) I soon realised that the system was a lot easier to play. I still have 2 piano accordions but I don’t play them very often and when I do it’s mainly exercises and scales.
