Store clerk: Small Talk
Anton: So you've chosen death

I tried this at Dairy Queen today. Someone called the cops.

All he had to do was tell him how much the gas cost

The "which it is" at the end. Basically taunting him right after he just psychologically violated the man.

“What business is it of yours where I’m from?”

71 seconds later asks him, “what time do you go to bed?”

His screen presence is so heavy and atmospheric

This was just a clever way for Chigurh to get out of paying for the gas and peanuts. Leave the clerk puzzled, and a full tank of gas and snacks for the road only costs you a quarter.

"You've been putting it up your whole life, you just didn't know it." One of the many awesome scene's, poor guy didn't know he was a inch away from meeting his maker. As slow burn movies go, one of the best!

At first, he seemed and mildly annoyed, but then softened up and decided to play a nice game of coin toss. What a feelgood scene. We can be in a bad mood, but choose to be nice in the end.

These two brilliant actors are scene stealers, and yet neither one upstages the others. Truly a masterfully done sequence.

With gas prices like now, this is how I'll get out of paying from now on

according to javier bardem, the turning point was when the old guy admitted he "married into" the property. That made it clear to anton that he wasn't supposed to be there, and now it's up to chance to decide if he can remain there.

This is the most joy Anton has displayed in the entire film. It’s almost as if he was happy he didn’t have to kill the man.

"Honey I meet the weirdest freaking guy today"

I love how Chigurh was so annoyed by the Clerk's attempts at passive conversation that he believed he had to kill him so he wouldn't try that shit with anyone else 😂

“You didn’t mean nothing” as he mocks his accent is my favorite part lmao. Anton is funny without even trying to be

I wish that they made like a series about this guy. Definitely one of the best characters in any movie I've ever seen

Store Clerk: “Asked a simple question just to be polite”
Anton: “I wanna kill you.”

I’ve always wondered just how confused the old man would be after this encounter
