Steam Deck: Helldivers 2 High Difficulty Performance

Everyone has been loving Helldivers 2 recently, and I finally managed to reach some of the higher difficulties - Level 6 (extreme)! In this video I showcase how the Steam Deck runs these missions, is it playable?

the funny thing is that i am having so much fun playing the game that the 25fps don't even bother me, everyday i come back from work and go play super exited as i used to do as a child and that is pure gold.

the game is so cpu-bound that async compute really should be turned on. it shifts some of the computing from the cpu to the gpu. for anyone using a manual gpu clock, i recommend setting it between 700-800 mhz. that frees up watts for the cpu to use, and it really, really needs them.

edit: with these setting on the low preset, no sharpness in-game, as i use gamescope's fsr at sharpness 3, i can get 30fps at level 9 difficulty. it only drops to below 25 when in a 4 stack during crazy moments. just remember that to actually use the deck's fsr, the render quality needs to be below 720p

Can't the devs fix this issue? Atleast make it 30FPS stable? I mean Steam Deck's really popular so if they optimize this they'll really have lots of sales.

Probably, stick with lvl 5 missions and below if you are playing on steam deck. Then, 6-9 on your pc.

First lol anyway was this an oled or lcd deck and do you yave cryo utilities 2 installed.

I've tried running Hell Divers 2 on my steam deck and can't seem to achieve more than 18 frames in my ship. I've changed my preset to low and upscale to quality and balanced with no difference other than the looks. Any recommendations?

Just wanna throw out there that I get 10-15 fps on my deck on planets with heavy foliage like Tibit, regardless of difficulty. I just get GPU bottlenecked even when putting it on 240p, so I'd recommend steering away from them when you can.

I brought me a fan and it lets me play up to level 8 difficulty without any problems, still trying to unlock helldive

I think the more enemies the bigger the drop.

It's much better on the Rog Ally, even in 1080p.
