Also, I promised I would leave you a link to the video where I show you how to process your audio for your voice.

This is a really long video to explain a simple technique.

Great advice. I work in radio and do this every day for commercials and programs. I can offer you a small tip to go with this: instead of right-clicking and then choosing "silence, " you can click "Command" + "T" on your keyboard and it will produce the same effect, only faster. At least it is faster for me. Keep up the great job!

This is great, thank you for this. Is there any automated way of removing the breath if the recording is really long?

I'm always working on my audio and find it hard with the breaths sometimes as i'm a big guy - so there are a lot of them. Normally I sit and go through, deleting them out. This is a huge help. The silence sounds a lot more organic than just deleting parts out.

Thank you very much for the assist!

Awesome editting tips. Quick question... my friend told me about using Audacity. He is also going to bring me some professional software as well over the weekend. Does Audacity function the same way? Would I remove breathing in the same manner with the Audacity program?

Hey Shannon is their a way where I can highlight the breathing part and have the program fix the whole episode for me. Like take every breathing part off ?? Hopefully that makes sense

Manually silencing works fine with a 30-second or 1-minute recording...I do this myself, but for anything longer it's simply impractical and easily triples the amount of editing time vs. actual recording time. There are a multitude of Effects/Plug-Ins that can and should be applied FIRST which will drastically reduce your base noise floor which by themselves will almost eliminate 90% of breath sounds to a very low amplitude. The problem I have is figuring out which Effect or Plugin to use that will automate removing that last 10% of audible breath. That's where I'm at and this video definitely does not help address that. :/

is there no way to soften harsh breath? I mean I want to retain the breath but just to soften the harsh breath.

But, what should we do if it is a video over an hour.

I'm wondering if anyone has a link or suggestion for me. I was a bit sick and I usually have mic treatments so this doesn't happen, but I screwed up. I was sick and I was recording video od an instructor on a shooting range as he is teaching shooting techniques and habits and you can hear me sounding like a stalker heavy breathing while watching a hot woman. I was so disappointed that I made this rookie mistake, and I have no opportunity to reshoot. this was a one time "get it if you can" situation. everything else was great, but you can hear me heavy breathing over this guy, so I don't want to take out his voice. Is there any way I can clean this up without hurting the instructor's voice? Thanks.

Is there a way to automatically take out the breaths from a long podcast?

YouTube is compressing your video, also its audio too. See the "Stats for nerds" section.
