FAA officially closes Starship mishap investigation but still blocks SpaceX. Elon Musk reacts...
HUGE THANKS TO:

========
Whoa, the FAA is moving unexpectedly faster than before!
Although the wait continues, this is remarkable in terms of progress for the FAA compared to what the agency has put the first Starship orbital attempt through.
If I recall correctly, last time, SpaceX was basically done preparations around June of 2022, but it was only back in April of this year that it finally pulled off the first IFT. We had to wait nearly a year for that test flight!
This will surely speed up in getting humanity closer to becoming a multi-planetary species!
In a Sept. 8 statement, the Federal Aviation Administration announced it has closed its “mishap” investigation into the April SpaceX Starship test flight that ended after the rocket exploded over the Gulf of Mexico.
“SpaceX must implement all corrective actions that impact public safety and apply for and receive a license modification from the FAA that addresses all safety, environmental and other applicable regulatory requirements prior to the next Starship launch,” the FAA said in a statement.

To be resolved, thank you.

I can imagine this dragging on for ages. When humans discovered how to make fire, invented the wheel, started making things out of metal, etc. they had one luxury. No bureaucrats.

Now THAT is ironic. Nasa worried about starship delays. Coming from the King of delaytown, U.S.A.!

It’s a good thing that humanity wasn’t trying to get off this planet in a hurry, because the FAA would cause it not to happen………

FAA moving faster than light speed? That's ludicrous.

Gotta slow SpaceX down so NASA doesn't look stupid when SpaceX lands on the moon without NASA

I think that the FAA is dragging its feet and being overly officious for some reason. The overriding national interest in this matter is to get the Starship/Superheavy launch system working well. Lesser concerns should be put aside. SpaceX's development of this launch system is no different than it was for Falcon 9 or for Falcon Heavy or for landing booster stages. The way SpaceX carries on R&D, there are usually failures before a degree of reliability for success is achieved. Starship/Superheavy is merely the next bigger rocket; otherwise, its development follows the same path as its earlier rockets did. The change in the FAA's attitude toward SpaceX probably has political motives that nobody wants to talk about.

Just remember, if it was only NASA, it would be another 10 years + and over budget by twice (at least) using "60s tech....

I have to wonder if anyone employed with the FAA is half as educated as the people working for SpaceX.

When days are all they need, the FAA takes months. What a “remarkable” feat of govt bean counting

"The bureaucratic mentality is the only constant in the universe." Dr. McCoy, Star Trek The Voyage Home.

I spent 25 years in the private sector and 10 in the public sector and I've learned one true thing; the private sectors role in our world is to drive our society and our economy by creating jobs, innovation, invention, forward thinking, and yes, capitalism...the public sectors role is to impede and obstruct the private sector whenever and however possible...it's a role they excel at.

It's the FAAs version of Lavrentiy Beria saying "show me the man and I'll find you the crime" only in this case it's show me the SpaceX rocket and find you reasons you can't launch it.

to sum it up, government slows down space advancement.

"Awaiting license approval" says it all.
SpaceX has already applied corrective actions (most were already a public secret, like the FTS), .
FAA also approved those corrective actions (they only have to disclose approval as part of license renewal
SpaceX had already applied for a new license, that is why they are awaiting approval.

You cannot wait for something you haven't applied for. And you simply do not stack a 500 million dollar rocket in idle hope.

I think NASA has their head stuck in the sand, remembering only how horrific things have been with the Boeing fiasco. SpaceX is light years ahead of everyone in the game with a robust team to develop, modifty and correct issues. Wait and see. If I was working at SpaceX, I would enjoy an "in your face" moment when all of their hard work begins to falling into place successfully.

Space X needs to move Starship to a different country. Our Government does not care about us or progress. They don’t like Elon Musk so that matters more than public will and the progress of the country.

Launch license: after the 2024 General election. To see which way the headwinds are blowing.
