What Romance novels have taught me

Is this the hottest thing a man can do?

In a Romance novel, at least, I would say yes. 😂

I heavily agree, a man who’s pride allows him to do so is one of the most attractive things for me, next to them owning a bed frame

I was going to argue that. But, I can't. When a character has shown enough growth and maturity in a story to be able to admit they made a mistake, offer an authentic apology, and take actions or steps that show that maturity . . . Yes, please. 😊

This tangentially reminds me of: "Oh, you like bad boys? Well not to brag, but I'm literally bad at everything."

Fantasy Romance is leaking right there at the end

1. Admitting he was wrong
2. *respecting your boundaries* (makes me melt)
3. Matching your energy

cue Jane Austen: "Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant, " and "my behaviour to you at the time was unpardonable, I can hardly think of it without abhorrence... No, I've been a selfish being all my life, and still I might have been but for you, dearest and loveliest Elizabeth"... *fans self* (from Persuasion and Pride & Prejudice respectively)

Another good one that's similar is when he realizes he wasn't noticing how miserable his love interest is in a certain situation that he brought them into and then hard corrects because their happiness is the most important thing to him.

This is true but only when the grovel is warranted. I hate it when the man ends up apologizing for something that he was objectively not in the wrong for or simply was not significant enough to warrant more than a "sorry". Instead of making the man seem responsible and self aware it just makes the other lead feel manipulative for putting the man in a situation where he felt it was necessary to apologize for something he shouldn't.

Yeah. Really when either character messes up and then wholeheartedly apologizes and makes the necessary changes. Especially when followed by a declaration of love that they had been denying

Yeah this is very attractive in both men and women. When someone has the confidence, and character, to admit they were mistaken. It makes them soooo much more attractive.

Nothing hotter than emotional maturity

I like it when they both admit they were wrong. Like in pride and prejudice, they both had to get rid of their pride. ❤

My favorite thing is kinda like that, but also when it happens on both sides.

For example, I love the movie version of North and South because of how they literally meet in the middle (at a train station), after having been in the opposite person's home location.

He's from the South of England, visits her former home in the North to understand her life there, and is coming home.

She is from Northern England and has gone to the South to save his factory as his new Landlord (it's complicated) and is returning to the North.

Throughout the beginning of the story they are both stuck in their ways, Northern and Southern, but by the end they have learned to see things from the other person's perspective.

The book version is fine, with them meeting in a drawing room and talking.

But the symbolism of their actions in the movie is soooo incredibly satisfying. Because after lengthy confusion they have both changed and come together to meet in the middle. And to realize that they were both wrong.

I absolutely love that. ❤

It’s because usually there was a period of emotional and or physical distance between them after a disagreement, so they have built up ✨desires✨ that pour out as soon as the one in the wrong apologises

The most romantic thing I ever heard was " I believe in God because of my wife, there's no other explanation for her being the most perfect woman in the world."

And the biggest turn off- the girl apologizing because she didn't "understand" the guys bad behavior.🤢

Wait. What if he listens to her in the first place? Is that less hot?
