One does not simply ignore the Forsworn Conspiracy as a Stormcloak supporter.

when I first did this quest, I was around level 60, and could obviously take down multiple guards

I didn't know the framed murder was actually scripted (as I didn't see the body in the temple) and assumed I was being charged with some crime I committed, but forgot about

So i politely refused arrest and thus, I turned Markarth into a infinite army generator any time I attempted to go and give Calcelmo his Dwarven Boots of Hauling.

But if you're a Stormcloak, you want to stabilize the newly independent Skyrim. Which means you want to put down the Forsworn as quickly as possible.
